The teaching ground (Jiwe-tsal) in Shey is 8km from Leh town. Transportation to the venue is arranged by public and private buses and taxis. You can either book a taxi or share a taxi or bus from Leh while traveling to the venue and vice-versa. The buses and taxis for Shey will leave from the new Bus Station every 5 to 10 minutes. The Bus Station is 15 minutes walk down the main market towards the Moti Market. The fare per person is Rs.20 at present for both the shared taxi and the bus. The fares could be revised next year.
There are plenty of taxis stationed at the Main Taxi Stand in Leh market. You can either book a taxi by calling the Taxi Union office at 01982-252723 or you can also ask the hotel manager or guest house owner to arrange a taxi for you. However, to be safe and to be on time, it is better to visit the taxi stand. Nonetheless, we are requesting all the participants of Kalachakra to travel together in groups with your co-residents at hotels and guest houses. Lesser vehicles on the road will definitely assists us with the road traffic and carpooling will also help to reduce the air pollution.
We have requested the Traffic Police to properly manage the traffic and avoid inconveniences of conveyors. The roads will be made one-directional and new roads will be constructed for better connectivity. We have parking plots in four different directions that can accommodate as many as 4000 vehicles each. No vehicle is allowed in the proximity of the venue. It may take 20 to 30mins by walk from the car parkings (Saboo Thang, Sindhu Ghat and Kuzey Thang) to the teaching ground (Jiwe-tsal).
